Service Monitoring
From Irides’ Network Operations Center (NOC) we provide 24 x 7 monitoring of all servers
and network components in our facility using a combination of Multi Router Traffic Grapher
(MRTG), Ipswitch’s Whatsup Gold, and Nagios. The following is a list of monitoring services
offered to our managed hosting clients.
- Primary IP Address Ping Monitor - Continuously verifies that a primary IP address is available via the network to ensure uninterrupted service of critical connections. Additional IP address monitoring is available for a nominal service fee.
- Operating System Monitor - Continuously verifies that the operating system is running.
Critical services and processes are monitored to ensure they are running.
- Remote Administration Monitor – Continuously verifies that the remote administrative services (Windows Terminal Services, PPTP/RAS, SecureShell) are available and accepting connections.
Web Server Monitors
- HTTP Port Monitor - Verifies that the Port for HTTP based Web traffic can be addressed and connected to.
- SSL Port Monitor - Verifies that the SSL Port of the server can be addressed and connected to.
- Primary Site URL Monitor - Verifies availability and access time for one primary site URL. The Primary Site URL Monitor ensures home pages are always available in an acceptable timeframe.
- SSL Site URL Monitor – Verifies availability and access time for one SSL site URL.
- FTP Monitor – Verifies availability and access times for FTP services if enabled.
- SNMP Monitor – Verifies availability of the SNMP reporting services.
Microsoft SQL Database Servers
- Service Monitor – Verifies that the following SQL Server services are running: MS SQL Server and SQL Agent.
Oracle Database Servers
- Database Availability Monitors – Ensures availability of the database by verifying that the following Oracle processes are running: dbwr, lgwr, smon, pmon, ckpt, and arch.
- Database Connectivity Monitor – Ensures database connectivity by verifying that the Oracle listener process (tnslsnr) is running.
- Dynamic Failover Monitoring – Monitors the daemon process to determine if fail-over occurs on an Oracle high availability solution.
